Meetings and Committees

A lot of the work at WMNF gets done by the efforts of the station's committees. The Board has several standing committees (indicated below by *), and there is also the Volunteer Committee, and a number of other committees that meet to accomplish specific tasks (CD Committee, Program Change Committee) or provide an ongoing forum for discussion (News & Public Affairs Committee).

Serving on a committee is a great way to learn how WMNF operates and how we make decisions. You can help make community happen here at 88.5!

All WMNF committee meetings (see descriptions below) are open to the public, with the exception of some Personnel issues covered by the Personnel committee. If you need to get in touch with the chair of a committee, email them or call our office at 813-238-8001.

*Board of Directors
Ed Ruark, President
Meets Third Monday of each month, 7:15 pm at the station. Call 813-238-8001 to confirm time and location.

*Community Advisory Board
Barry Shalinsky, Chair
Meets quarterly to provide a community forum to monitor the station's broadcasts and evaluate how WMNF is meeting the needs of the community at large.

Volunteer Committee
Kathy Moore, Chair
Meets the first Monday of the month, 6:30 p.m. to promote volunteering, encourage volunteer participation at the station, and to represent volunteers on various committees and on the Board of Directors.

*Diversity Committee
Maggie DiPietra & Marilyn Williams, Co-Chairs
Meets monthly to ensure the representation of diverse cultures and perspectives throughout the station.

*Development Committee
Sandy Wismer, Chair
Meets as needed to organize the time, talents and treasures of the WMNF family to encourage financial support and ensure funds are available as the station grows.

Meets as needed to codify and update all policies, employee manual, bylaws, governance documents,  programmers agreement and any other official documents.

*Personnel Committee

Meets as needed to recommend policies and procedures regarding hiring and firing, salaries and benefits. The committee assists in recruiting, screening, and interviewing applicants for positions; assists in writing job descriptions for new positions; annually evaluates the Station Manager; intervenes where necessary in grievances involving staff, volunteers or others.

Meets as needed to supervise and oversee the financial health of WMNF.

Accepts nominations and applications for board service.

News & Public Affairs Committee

CD Project Committee AKA "Tapers"

Meets as needed to develop and produce WMNF compilation CDs. Records our concerts and events throughout the year.
